Review of Shaker & Spoon

First of all, I want to make it clear that this is not a sponsored post. I started subscribing to the Shaker & Spoon co*cktail Subscription Box several months ago and love it so much, that I wanted to share a review with you all.

Now that that's out of the way, let's get busy with a review!

What is Shaker & Spoon?

I first discovered Shaker & Spoon when they popped up as an ad on my Facebook page. Hey, I love co*cktails and Facebook knows it!

They are a subscription box service. Once a month you get a box filled with all sorts of goodies to make 12 co*cktails - 4 each of 3 different co*cktails. You get everything you need to make the co*cktails, except the booze.

Before the box arrives, you get an email describing the contents of the next box and suggestions for liquors to use with your co*cktails.

Each box has a theme, this box was bourbon punches! Perfect for the holidays when a punch bowl or pitcher of co*cktails is always welcome!

Recipe Cards and Content Cards

The first thing I look at are the cards that come with the box. There is a glossary card that comes with every box with barware, techniques and terminology.

Then I look at the card that list all the ingredients of the box. The box that I am reviewing is the December 2019 Party Punch Box. It is a collection of punch recipes (that serve 4-6 each) using bourbon! As big bourbon fans, we were super excited to see this box.

A card for each recipe is included. They give information about the bartender who created the recipe and the flavors and notes that you might expect from the co*cktail.

Syrups and Cordials

My favorite part is checking out all the bottles of syrups and cordials. The bigger bottles in the box were the Spiced Peach Plum Syrup, Wildflower Honey, and a Spiced Pear Cordial.

Bitters, Shrubs, and Extracts

Next up are the smaller bottles of bitters, shrubs, and extracts. In this box, we received a bottle of Bittercube Cherry Bark Vanilla Bitters (can't wait to try this in some other co*cktails,) a Mother Shrub cranberry, El Guapo Holiday Pie Bitters, and Woodward Extract Co. Cardamom extract.

The Best Craft co*cktails!

We made all three co*cktails from the box and loved each of them!

First up is the "Pleased as Plum Punch" co*cktail. This co*cktail was created by Stacey Swenson from Bar Pisellino. While, we really can't pick a favorite, this one was extra special with the grating of fresh nutmeg on the top right before serving. As you bring the co*cktail up to sip, you get the aroma of that spice!

It was made with rooibos tea, bourbon, spiced poached plum syrup, lemon juice, sparkling wine, and a fresh grating of nutmeg.

I have to say the fact that they included a nutmeg for you to grate fresh over the drink instead of little bag of ground nutmeg, made me love them even more!

Next we made the Pugno Risorto from Trevor Frye. This co*cktail was like a hug, with lemon tea, honey, lemon juice, cranberry shrub, bourbon, cherry bark vanilla bitters, sparkling wine and cinnamon sticks.

It was the perfect blend of sweet and tart with the cranberry shrub balancing out the sweet lemon and honey tea.

Last but not least, is the Fireside Festivity from Robert Sickler of Finn's Manor in Denver. A complex and oh so sippable co*cktail!

Made with bourbon, spiced pear cordial, cardamom extract, sparkling wine, holiday pie bitters and dried pineapple rings.

How amazing does everything look!! We have never been disappointed in any of the co*cktails that we've made. We love getting the box and trying new recipes.

I also love that I usually have a little bit of some of the ingredients left over so I can experiment with my own co*cktails.

We love Shaker & Spoon!
