Sharon Osbourne kicks impostor who ran up on stage (2024)

The young man who pulled a Kanye and stormed the stage at the People's Choice Awards Wednesday night has been identified as an aspiring rapper with a history of pulling such pranks.

Twenty-year-old Zacari Nicasio ran on stage as the panelists of The Talk were accepting an award, and took control of the microphone briefly before being kicked by Sharon Osborne.

After getting kicked out of the awards ceremony, Nicasio spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, saying he was trying 'to tell everybody who I was'.

Nicasio said he was inspired by Kanye West's interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the VMAs, which is why he referenced the mega-rapper's latest song in his caper.

'I had to shout out who I look up to: Kanye West and Kevin Gates,' he said. 'I came here to do this tonight. I could honestly care less about what was going to happen.'

Pulling a Kanye: A young man identified as Zacari Nicasio stormed the stage at Wednesday night's People's Choice Awards as the panelists of The Talk were accepting an award

It has also been revealed that Nicasio crashed Kris Jenner's 60th birthday party in November, where he also grabbed the microphone to hype his work while Kanye was honoring the Kardashian matriarch on stage.

After the People's Choice award incident, Nicasio posted a video of the stunt to Instagram, writing: 'You know I had to do it...2016 I'm taking over'.

A search of Nicasio's online profiles show he is a young aspiring rapper, with a pretty meager following.

Ambitions: According to his online profiles, Nicasio appears to be an aspiring rapper and 'up-and-coming skateboarder'

Over the past week, he has been publicizing a music video for his new song ZetaGang Castle.

Despite his big publicity stunt, the video for the song has only been viewed about 1,700 times on YouTube and 72 times on Vevo as of Thursday morning.

His Twitter has just 156 followers and his Instagram has 1,902 followers.

He appears to have two Facebook profiles - one that describes him as an 'up-and-coming skateboarder' and another one where he has been posting rap videos.

Daily Mail Online's requests for comment from Nicasio were not immediately returned early Thursday.

It's unclear whether the young man was invited to the award ceremony.

Little-known: In the past week, Nicasio has been pushing a new music video online but the film has only been viewedabout 1,700 times on YouTube

His stunt Wednesday night quickly became the most talked about event from the awards ceremony.

The Talk had just won for Favorite Daytime TV Hosting Team – beating out The View, Good Morning America, Live with Kelly and Michael and Today.

Taking the stage, the group let Gilbert, 40. accept the gong. She began her speech by saying: 'Wow thank you so much. This is amazing! I think we think of ourselves as the oddballs...'

But she was soon cut off by Nicasio, who ambushed the stage and forcefully took over the microphone.

In an apparent nod to Kanye West, who has famously interrupted acceptance speeches at awards shows in the past (most notoriously Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs), he said, before the microphone was forcibly pulled from his hands, 'Yeezy just jumped over Jumpman', a quote from the rappers Facts song.

But he was quickly shoved by The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood, who shouted at him, 'You ain't gonna pull no Steve Harvey up in here!' (Another reference to a recent awards faux pas when the wrong winner was announced for Miss Universe)

She then yelled: 'Security!

Security! The People's Choice Awards was rocked by an apparent security breach when a man ambushed the stage during The Talk panel's thank you speech

Not so fast: Feisty Sharon Osbourne was quick to react - swiftly kicking the man twice as he was shooed offstage before shouting at him to 'get the f*** off my stage'

Get off the stage: The impostor was quickly shoved by The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood, who shouted at him: 'You ain't gonna pull no Steve Harvey up in here!'

Taking action:She then yelled for security to escort the man offstage

A second one for good measure: Sharon, 63, promptly kicked the man in the leg twice as he stumbled away from the group of women

Not having it: Only Sharon and Sheryl confronted the man, who appeared to quote Kanye West during his brief interruption

Sharon, 63, promptly kicked the man in the leg twice as he stumbled away from the group of women.

Taking command of the situation, Sheryl told Gilbert: 'Get back to your speech girl.'

Sharon, however, was still focused on the man who had rudely ambushed their acceptance speech and could be seen flipping him off.

'Get the f**k off my stage!' she yelled at him, which was later edited out of the broadcast.

Gilbert, somehow continued her speech: 'I think that we feel like we are the motley crew of misfits.'

'But that guy is not in our club,' co-host Aisha Tyler added humorously.

Resuming, Gilbert concluded with the words: 'Anyway, we just want to say we don't see any division between us and you. We feel you are so much a part of our show.'

'We want to share this award with you,' she then joked, 'we'll keep the trophy, but in spirit, we share with you, and we are tremendously grateful. Thank you so much.'
